Our modern equipment provides excellent diagnostic quality radiographs (x-rays) that can be vital in the diagnosis and treatment of many diseases. Complete ultrasound examinations can be conducted in house by a mobile imaging specialist.
Although radiographs are generally used in cases of illness, radiographs of the chest and abdomen can also be used as a screening procedure in our older pets. Abnormalities of the heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, prostate, intestinal tract as well as the skeleton and other parts of the anatomy may be detected with radiographs.
In addition, if indicated, we may perform specialty procedures, including GI barium series and urinary bladder contrast studies. These special procedures may be necessary for identifying difficult or chronic problems.
When indicated, our radiographs are reviewed by a board certified radiologist. Reports are generally available within 1 business day.
Ultrasound is a non-invasive imaging procedure that complements radiographs and allows better visualization of internal organs in the abdomen. Ultrasound is invaluable for making treatment decisions for various types of abdominal disease. It also allows us to biopsy organs such as the liver, kidney and spleen through a tiny needle
