Preventive care is often provided as a partnership between veterinarians and pet owners. At Mountain View Veterinary Hospital, we are committed to doing this together! We strongly believe that preventive care is one of the keys to longevity and pet health, and that is why it’s so important to our team. We’re committed to the preventive care guidelines set up by AAHA’s Partnership for Healthy Pets and AVMA, all in an effort to ensure your pet’s complete and lifelong health.
As part of our preventive care, we provide customized vaccinations determined by the lifestyle needs of your pet, including required vaccinations like rabies. We also recommend the use of preventatives that give a preemptive strike against fleas, ticks, and heartworm parasites. We regularly evaluate your pet to determine that their needs are met and that we’re doing everything possible to ensure their good health.
We recommend annual physical examinations for pets of all ages, and as your pet grows older, we recommend twice yearly visits to help us keep a better eye on the physical changes they will begin to experience. We will utilize a variety of diagnostics, including blood work, to evaluate your pet’s condition. Preventive pet care is a lifelong process, and we are your partners. From the time your pet is a puppy or a kitten until they are a senior, our team is committed to help you determine the best preventive measures for keeping your pet safe and healthy.
When your pet is sick, they may have internal medical problems that need to be identified and addressed by our veterinary team at Mountain View Veterinary Hospital. We provide extensive internal medical care for our patients including:

A healthy mouth is the best first step toward overall physical health. At Mountain View Veterinary Hospital we perform regular oral examinations to determine your pet’s oral health, and these may be followed up with a recommended cleaning. Dental cleanings are performed under anesthesia and include:
For most pets, oral cleanings are recommended every 1-3 years. In order to help maintain your pet’s oral health, we recommend at-home care for each of our patients. Our team is happy to provide education about home dental care as needed.

Boarding Policy and Requirements
For the safety of our boarding guests, we require that all pets have updated vaccines and flea prevention medication. If your pet is overdue on vaccines, please have them administered at least one week PRIOR to the boarding appointment. Vaccines take time to be effective.
Required Core Vaccines:
Dogs: Distemper-Parvo Combo, Bordetella (Kennel Cough), Rabies
Lepto and monthly intestinal parasite prevention is strongly recommended.
Cats: Feline Distemper (FVRCP), Rabies
Feline Leukemia and intestinal parasite prevention is strongly recommended.
With these standards and our rigorous sanitation, we try to minimize the potential of infectious diseases in our facilities. However, we understand that not all infectious diseases can be prevented and some illnesses can be spread by pets displaying no symptoms. If your pet is showing any signs of illness, please book an appointment with our veterinarians. We don't want to put the rest of pets at risk. If there are other services your pets need while boarding, please let us know.
Please plan to bring the following items with your pet:
If your pet is ill, please do not schedule them for daycare or boarding, for the safety of the other pets in our care.
Our Dog Day Care is an enriching alternative to leaving your dog at home! Our dedicated staff is here to provide a fun and supervised day for your playful pup. After a day in our care, your dog will be ready for a relaxing night at home. A day with us includes:
All dogs need to be up to date on vaccines, have a negative fecal test annually, and be on a flea preventative. On your first day with us, we will conduct a full-day pet assessment to provide ample time and attention to your dog.
At Mountain View Veterinary Hospital, we provide counseling for pets with behavioral issues. We recommend complete physical examinations as a first step to behavioral assessments, as some of these concerns may stem from physical conditions. Our team will completed a full assessment before prescribing treatment options, which may include referrals to outside consultants. We treat all behavioral concerns on an individual basis, as determined by each pet’s need.
